Did you know...

Grizzly Families!  CGD is a vital fundraiser - 100% goes directly to your students and their classrooms. If you have already donated, THANK YOU!

If a grade level cannot raise funds, they risk canceling field trips, class events, and celebrations.

Classroom Giving Drives are grade-level specific. If you wait until the Walkathon Drive to donate, your donations will go to the general fund for programs and school-wide events.

Classroom Giving Drive - DONATE HERE!
COMPANY MATCHING ACCOUNTED FOR 40% OF ALL DONATIONS LAST YEAR!

Thank you to all of the families who checked if their employer provides Company Matching Donations!!  You made ALLLLL the difference in helping us reach our fundraising goals last year!

PLEASE VISIT GHSC.NET/MATCHING TO CHECK YOUR DONATION - YOUR EFFORTS AND SUPPORT ARE UNMATCHED (lol)!

Ready For an Ice Cream Hangout?

Join us this Thursday, 9/3, starting at 5:45 PM with a special ribbon cutting to celebrate our new playground! Then stick around for Guadalupe's Annual Ice Cream Social from 6–8 PM.

Head over to the lunch benches for yummy ice cream and toppings while the kids enjoy an evening of playing on campus.

It's a great opportunity to connect with fellow Grizzly families and visit tables showcasing GHSC events and programs.

Staff Snacks!

Help us keep our amazing staff fueled throughout the year! Each grade is assigned a month to bring in snacks for the staff lounge. Families are welcome to drop off their choice of snacks in the main office anytime during their grade’s month.

A little treat goes a long way, thank you for helping us show our staff some love!

TRAFFIC HEROES KEEP US SAFE!
❤️ Thank you to all of our volunteers for your care and dedication! ❤️
TRAFFIC REMINDERS:

NO U-TURNS

Do not make U-Turns on the surrounding narrow streets during busy morning drop-offs -- it is dangerous to those walking and driving.

SAFE DROP-OFFS

When dropping off in front of the school, children should exit from the RIGHT-HAND SIDE of the car directly onto the sidewalk. Cars may be passing on the left, making street-side exits extremely dangerous.

On Puerta Vallarta, please drop off AT LEAST 50 METERS FROM THE CROSSWALK and NEVER at the stop sign. Cars may be turning right through this area, creating a serious safety hazard.

RED ZONES = NO STOPPING & NO PARKING

Painted red curbs are now marked with NO PARKING & STOPPING signs. Please do not use these areas to drop off or pick up students. THIS INCLUDES KINDER & TK.

WHITE ZONE = NO PARKING

The white zones along Coleman Drive are for drop offs only. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR or park here during pickup and drop-off times! If you need to exit your car, please park along an unmarked or green-painted curb. If no parking is available, please find parking in the neighborhood.

ONLY USE CROSSWALKS TO CROSS THE STREET

Parents must set a positive example by crossing at crosswalks and allowing a steady flow of cars at morning drop off.

COLEMAN GATE IS LOCKED 8:05AM - DISMISSAL BELL

Please only drop off at the Vera Cruz entrance.  Do not prop open the gate- this creates avoidable student safety issues.

EXITING THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT = RIGHT TURN ONLY
NO LEFT TURNS when exiting the school parking lot. Please turn right toward Coleman.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE BY BEING PROACTIVE AGAINST POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS!

Sponsors Needed!

Do you know of a local company (or perhaps your own!) that would like to build out community while also helping students enjoy key programs at school? We'd love to add you to the GHSC Sponsor list!

Programs such as music/art from Starting Arts, Recess 101, reading programs, and many other essential programs are made possible through GHSC funding. Our core group of corporate sponsors help to keep these programs alive for our children.

Becoming a GHSC sponsor opens up opportunities to advertise at major school events during the year to our 500+ families that attend Guadalupe Elementary and to the surrounding community.

We offer multiple sponsor levels for a variety of benefits. More detailed information can be found at: http://ghsc.net/sponsor or reach out to the GHSC Sponsor Chair, Nancy Millward, at sponsor.ghsc@gmail.com.

IMPORTANT ITEMS FROM MS. REYES:

  1. District Illness Absence Policy: If your student has vomited, had diarrhea, or run a fever of 100˚F or above in the last 24 hours, please keep your student home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Please report your student's illness and absence daily by calling the Guadalupe Attendance Line - Please call ‭(408) 927-9452‬

  2. District Independent Study: If your child will be absent for 3 consecutive school days (and no longer than 14 days in total throughout the year), you must coordinate a short-term independent study option with your teacher.  Parents must submit the Independent Study Request Form at least two weeks in advance and coordinate with their child’s teacher or the school office.

  3. Arriving After 8:15 AM: All late students must visit the front office to check in and obtain a late slip.

  4. YARD DUTY SHORTAGE: The front office is still short on Yard Duties for lunchtime. They are simply asking for a dedication of one weekly lunch shift. If you are interested in helping, please contact Ms. Reyes at reyessy@unionsd.org.

  5. Volunteering/Visiting Campus this Year?

    1. If you haven't filled out USD's YEARLY mandatory Code of Conduct, you can submit it HERE.  (This is a yearly requirement)

    2. Scan your Driver's License in the Raptor System in the office. (If you're already in the system, no need to re-scan)

  6. Emergency Data Update: All families must update this annually.  Please check your emails- a few have been sent out since early August.

  7. Forgotten something at home? Parents should leave lunches, water bottles, glasses, etc on the table outside the office to avoid interrupting class instruction.  Please LABEL their items!  Tell your students to check this table in case they forget something - this way we avoid calling into classes and interrupting instruction.

  8. Label Bottle/Lunch Boxes/Clothing: Please label all items your student carries or layers of clothing they can remove.

  9. Have a non-urgent question or comment for the office? Please avoid the office first thing in the morning- it's a busy time when Ms. Reyes is helping tardy students get to class.  You are welcome to email or visit at a later time in the day.

All district guidelines are provided in the Union District Parents' Annual Rights Notification.

If you have any questions please email Ms. Reyes
