Farewell, Mrs. Hamchuk!
SHOW OFF YOUR TALENTS, GRIZZLIES!
DANCE, SING, SHOW OFF YOUR MARTIAL ART SKILLS, ACT, PLAY AN INSTRUMENT, RECITE A POEM, PERFORM A MAGIC TRICK, OR TELL JOKES!
ALL TALENTS ACCEPTED!
This year, we only accept video submissions showcasing talents unable to be performed on stage. In previous years, we have seen skateboarding & bike tricks, gymnastics, horseback riding, skiing, and even roller skating!
WANT TO BE AN EMCEE?
5th Graders only - apply to be the Emcee for the Variety Show! Spaces are limited.
Please allow extra time for school drop-off due to ongoing construction.
Ms. Barocio is granting a 5-minute grace period to alleviate any rush.
🛑Pedestrian Reminders:
Traffic guards may be allowing more cars through, which could result in longer wait times for pedestrians. Your patience is appreciated!
Please wait to enter the crosswalk until the traffic guard signals it's safe. Their priority is everyone's safety.
🛑Driver Reminders:
Expect longer lines on Vera Cruz heading east toward Guadalupe.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF CHILDREN ALONG ANY RED CURB. We've noticed an increase in parents dropping off children at or near the stop sign (red curb). This is illegal and dangerous.
Safety is our priority. Thank you for your patience during morning drop off.
A full-time traffic guard position is also available. Contact principal Barocio (barociod@unionsd.org) if interested.
Book Fair Recap
"I want to express my sincere gratitude to our AMAZING volunteers for their dedication and hard work in making our recent Book Fair such a success.
Between generous family contributions to staff wishlists and funds we raised, I'm delighted that we could fulfill these wishlists. We were able to donate books to classroom libraries and other campus reading spaces, providing students with greater access to a diverse selection of books and nurturing a lifelong love of reading.
I'm also pleased to announce that we raised money for Share the Fair, a valuable Scholastics Book Fair giving program to support students with needs.
Looking ahead, my goal is to enhance our library's nonfiction collection with new and updated resources. I hope these additions will provide students with current and relevant information, further supporting their classroom learning, projects, and overall academic success.
Thank you again for your continued support of our library. I look forward to sharing more updates soon!"

Congrats & Farewell, Mrs. Hamchuk!
We will sorely miss Mrs. Hamchuk's dedication, thorough attention to detail, care, and fantastic multi-tasking superpowers! Throughout the years (pre and post distanced learning!), she has served our school with steadfast support and guidance so that we can thrive! Please stop by the office to wish her good luck as she transitions to the District Officice this week.
IMPORTANT ITEMS FROM MRS. HAMCHUK
YARD DUTY NEEDED (LUNCH) : Can you spare 1-2 days a week to help with lunch yard duty? Paid & volunteer positions are available! Please contact the office for more information.
REGISTRATION IS OPEN! If your student is already enrolled, there is no need for action. TK, K, etc. registration is open for new students. Please visit : https://www.unionsd.org/families/enroll-in-usd .
District Illness Absence Policy: If your student has vomited, had diarrhea, or run a fever of 100˚F or above in the last 24 hours, please keep your student home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Please report your student's illness and absence daily by calling the Guadalupe Attendance Line - Please call (408) 927-9452
NEW- Absence Calls/Notices are released @ 9am per USD's emergency procedure policy. Regardless of whether you have already called or messaged about your child's tardiness or absence, you will receive a notice through Parent Square. Disregard if you have already contacted the school OR use the message as a reminder to update the Front Office.
District Independent Study: If your child will be absent for 3 consecutive school days (and no longer than 14 days), you must coordinate a short-term independent study option with your teacher. Parents must contact their teacher or the office at least two weeks in advance for a link to the request form.
Forgotten something at home? Parents should leave lunches, water bottles, glasses, etc on the table outside the office to avoid interrupting class instruction. Please LABEL their items! Tell your students to check this table in case they forget something - this way we avoid calling into classes and interrupting instruction.
Label Bottle/Lunch Boxes/Clothing: Please label all the items your student carries or layers of clothing they can take off.
Have a non-urgent question or comment for the office? Please avoid the office first thing in the morning- it's a busy time when the office admin is helping tardy students get to class. You are welcome to email or visit at a later time in the day.
