HOLIDAY BOOK FAIR 12/5-8

The Holiday Book Fair is NEXT WEEK (Dec. 5th-7th)!

Book Fair Schedule

Tue. 12/5 ~ 1:40PM-4PM

(TK & Kinder Welcome)

Wed. 12/6 ~ 1:15PM-3PM

Wed. 12/6 ~ 5:30PM-8PM

(Open @ Winterfest)

Thu. 12/7 ~ 2:40PM-4PM

This weekend is the perfect time for setting up your student's Scholastic eWallet. The eWallet allows your student to go into the fair and purchase items on their own; this means no waiting in line while they socialize. No more standing in a long line for the Book Fair for parents. Let the kids wait while you stand outside or wait in the car. CLICK HERE for detailed information on setting up your eWallet, or watch the video for a step-by-step tutorial on how to set up an eWallet.

YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST

STARTS NOW!

The Guadalupe Yearbook Team is kicking off their annual Yearbook Cover Contest, today! Students have already started turning in cover designs to the front office. Earlier this week, your student received a flyer for the Yearbook Contest. The contest flyer is printed on heavier paper, with instructions for your student to do their cover art design on the back of the flyer. This is optional. The flyer details all the required elements for your student's submission(s).

The contest is open to all grades, including TK! The kids love seeing their artwork showcased during the voting, and last year, we had one kinder runner-up who ended up on the back cover of the yearbook. You can find out more detailed information on GHSC.NET/COVER.

IMPORTANT ITEMS FROM MRS. HAMCHUK

  1. HOLIDAY CLASSROOM PARTY VOLUNTEERING: The Event RSVP Form will be available again next week! Please note that this form will be taken down 2-3 days before any event, so you won't be able to register at the last minute. Holiday celebrations are coming, RSVP NOW for all the remaining events of the school year. When you RSVP, a badge will be preprinted, and you won't have to stand in line to check-in. Click the button below for the form.
  2. District Illness Absence Policy: The cold and flu season is upon us. Please do not send your child to school sick! If your student has vomited, had diarrhea, or ran a fever of 100.0˚F+ in the last 24 hours, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Please report your student's illness and absence daily by calling the Guadalupe Attendance Line - Please call ‭(408) 927-9452‬
  3. District Independent Study Change: Holidays are coming, and families like to travel. Reminder: The district has changed the Independent Study Contract Guidelines. The guideline now states, "The minimum period for any short-term independent study option shall be three consecutive school days and no longer than 14 days." Parents are still required to contact their student's teacher at least two weeks in advance to request a contract to be set up.

TRAFFIC UPDATE: Coleman Gate & More

With the closure of the Coleman Gate, the Traffic Safety Team is still committed to ensuring Guadalupe is a safe campus. The Traffic Safety Team would like to keep improving traffic around campus.

Several volunteer spots need filling, especially at the drop-off zone along Vera Cruz in the mornings. Please click the volunteer button below to sign up for one morning or afternoon shift.

Please reduce your speed during drop-off. When using the drop-off zone along Vera Cruz, please do the following:

  • Pull forward to the front parking lot entrance to drop off your student(s).
  • Students MUST exit along the curbside of the car.
  • Backpacks should be easily accessible by students: please do not put them in the trunk of your car.
  • No U-turns on Vera Cruz.

For further details, please see Mrs. Barocio's email sent on November 28 or email her at barociod@unionsd.org.
