SUBJECT: GHSC Newsletter: October Edition

Is it October already?

It's refreshing to see the fall colors along the Guadalupe track, classes enjoying the new PE program, and the return of Mileage Club in the mornings.

, in this October edition, we kick off WALKATHON, Guadalupe's big fundraiser of the year, news on Halloween, student elections, and much more.

WALKATHON is LIVE!

Dudes and Dudettes!!…

Get Your Bodacious Walking Shoes On and Grab your Totally Awesome Shades Because….

The annual Guadalupe Grizzlies Walkathon is BACK on Wednesday, October 20th!!!

This is a chance for our students to have fun with their grade level, get fit, and kick off this new and tubular year for our Guadalupe community. With everyone’s help, we can make the Grizzlies Walkathon a fun day while fundraising for our school's amazing programs like ceramics, dance, and art!!

Students will be coming home today with the Walkathon Packet in their Friday Folder. Parents received an email on Saturday, 9/25 with instructions on how to setup your student's donation webpage on GHSC Toolkit. More Information on the Walkathon and How To Setup Your Donation Page is on GHSC.NET.

We're excited to Celebrate Good Times and to be Together Again, like, Totally!  (Did you catch the 80's theme of this year's event?)

IMPORTANT ITEMS FROM MRS. HAMCHUK

  • DISTRICT EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO OVERDUE: We still have several families who have not updated their Guadalupe Emergency Information for their students. You should have received an email titled "Union School District - Emergency Data Update 2021-2022 School Year". Please be sure to update your Emergency Information. Not sure if you complete the form? Click on the student-specific link in the e-mail, and if the form was completed, you would land on a "Thank you" message page. If you cannot find the email, check your junk folder or email Mrs. Hamchuk for help hamchukj@unionsd.org.

  • PARENT'S RIGHTS ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PAGE: The Parent's Rights Booklet was sent home with your student the second week of school. Please sign and return the last page, the "Parent's Rights Acknowledgement Page" to your student's teacher ASAP. If you wish to sign the Media Opt-Out form (if you don't want pictures taken of your student for the yearbook and classroom pages), please give that to your teacher as well.

  • LOST & FOUND: Have you noticed a water bottle, lunch box, or jacket  missing? Please check out the Lost & Found rack when it is sitting outside the school's front gates. It's already October, and we will be clearing and donating the items on the rack during the Holiday break in December. If you have questions about LOST & FOUND, please email lostnfound.ghsc@gmail.com.

If you have any questions,

please email Mrs. Hamchuk <hamchukj@unionsd.org>

SHARING YOUR PHOTOS

October is going to be an active month for Guadalupe. With events like Walkathon, there are going to many opportunities for parents to take photos. Parent and staff photos make up more than half of the Guadalupe Yearbook. Sharing your photos just keeps getting easier. The yearbook team has three key ways you could share your photos.

  1. Share photos on your Shutterfly Grade Site.
  2. Download the Shutterfly Share Site APP and upload your photos directly from your phone; it's faster and easier than a webpage upload.
  3. Email 2-4 Photos to YEARBOOK.GHSC@GMAIL.COM

Portrait Day in 2 weeks

Students will be taking School Portraits on campus, on Fri. 10/15. Parents can preorder their pictures on LIFETOUCH.COM by using our PICTURE DAY ID ~ EVTPV6KX8. Paper forms will be going home to students in their Friday Folders.

It will be great to see all these great photos in the Guadalupe Yearbook at the end of the school year. If you have questions about portrait day, please contact Mrs. Hamchuk (hamchukj@unionsd.org)

Morning Runs with MILEAGE CLUB

Mileage Club has over 70 students registered, and there is plenty of room for more students. Let your student start the morning off right by doing some laps around the school track before class starts. Five days a week, Mileage Club will run from 7:40 AM to 8:05 AM.

Parent volunteers are present during this time, and students log their number of laps each day to meet goals and enjoy prizes for each achievement. All students must complete and sign the MILEAGE CLUB WAIVER.

Elections Coming Soon

Friday, October 8th, is Guadalupe Student Council Election Day, and this is a historic year for Guadalupe. Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Landis have reported 60 students signed up to run in the Guadalupe Student Council election.

On Friday, 3rd/4th/5th grade classes will listen to speeches from all candidates. Then they will return to their classrooms and vote online. At the end of school, Mr. Jones will announce on the loudspeaker all the winners.

GOOD LUCK CANDIDATES

Interested in Helping With Yearbook

The Yearbook Team is still looking for parents to help design pages for the yearbook. You will get to pick and choose which pages you will design, and for all you new parents, we offer two training sessions on the design process and how to use Josten's Web Design Tool. The training sessions will be in January, and we start designing the yearbook, February through March.

There is no design experience needed at all. If you have questions or are interested in joining the team, please send an email to yearbook.ghsc@gmail.com
