SUBJECT: GHSC Newsletter: March Edition

Spring Is Here Family!

As  more students arrive on campus, we are seeing more hope for all students next Fall.

, we have some important news items in this issue, from an update on the Outdoor Classrooms project to our need for PARENT VOLUNTEERS for Traffic Safety.

Important Update: The next GHSC Board Meeting is being moved to Monday, 3/15 to honor the one year anniversary of Guadalupe since going into quarantine. More details on this event is coming.

GUADALUPE OUTDOOR LEARNING

A Special Message From Mr. Jones

Using outdoor spaces for learning has a number of benefits, including cognitive and social-emotional growth. There has perhaps never been a better time to expand the traditional classroom beyond the four walls, and we are fortunate at Guadalupe to have a campus with the space and features to provide almost limitless possibilities.

Jason Hull, an architect and a Guadalupe parent, created this vision board to help us begin the brainstorming process. It’s important to me that we provide multiple opportunities for input from parents, staff members, community members, and students.

Our goal is to create at least two defined spaces for outdoor learning. You might think of these spaces as being like the STEAM lab but without the walls. The natural features and the components we add to it should clearly define the space, encourage play and exploration, facilitate an easy connection with teachers and indoor learning, and be something that our school and community can be proud of.

I look forward to gathering your ideas and feedback in the coming weeks.

A HUGE THANK YOU

to

Jill & Robert Binkley

and all the performers and their parents

for making the Guadalupe Variety Show

a Great Success!

TRAFFIC UPDATE

COLEMAN AVENUE: Pickup & Drop-off has gone well for First & Grade along Coleman Avenue.

KINDER: Kinder parents, please keep in mind Third Grade will be dropping off in the parking lot, which will increase traffic and cars entering and exiting the parking lot. Please stay on the sidewalk at all times. Do not walk your student through the parking lot. Also, please DO NOT PARK AT THE CURB TO WALK YOUR STUDENT TO CLASS. All Kinder parents should park in the neighborhood and walk your kinder student to the gate.

VERA CRUZ: Fourth & Fifth Grade students should be dropped off along the trackside of Vera Cruz. Entry and Exit points will be marked with signs. Only Kinder and Third Grade cars should enter the front parking lot circle.

ALL DRIVERS: Please drive slow at all times. Students are still getting used to the pickup and drop-off routines. All of those traffic safety team members you see are Guadalupe parents. And we could use a few more parents to volunteer for this short and easy job. If you haven't read the latest COVID Vaccine guidelines, Traffic Safety Volunteers can join educators for the vaccine. Mr, Jones has already issued one letter to a new volunteer to prove their Traffic Safety duties at Guadalupe.
