Comments from Principal Jones & Staff

Construction News: Principal Jones reported that the NEW Kinder classrooms were delivered and installed on 8/8. Mrs.Wing & Mr. Baza will be moving into the new classrooms when school goes back to in-person.

Class Link: Mr. Jones reported the district is aware of issues with Class Link accessing learning apps and Clever. They will continue to be working on it, and if parents have any tech issues arise, please reach out to Denise Goodhart.

Teachers First Day: The thanked the parents for their patience in starting school and expressed how excited they all were to see the students on Zoom. A lot will happen over the next two weeks as they gradually move into the full-time curriculum.

Parent Community Group Meeting 8/12

New Mentor Program: The Guadalupe New Family Committee has started a Mentor program, allowing New Family's to pair with a veteran Guadalupe family. They are accepting native tongue and grade requests. If you are a new family or ould like to be a mentor, please email newfamily.ghsc@gmail.com.

With the new school year, we wanted to give parents more information and possibly set topics for a meeting. Rachael Ostrowski will be curating a topic by providing an article, website, or book to spark parents' interest. We also welcome parents to share their suggestions as well, or if you would like to team up with Rachael to help curate these discussions, email her at parentgroup.ghsc@gmail.com..

This Weeks Topic

We are looking forward to next week's community meeting and hearing how everyone is doing after 2 weeks of school. We definitely will be discussing time management in distance learning. Although we have discussed this before, I found this linked article helpful in reminding me how to promote this, not only with my children but also as parents as we navigate managing everyone's school and work schedules.

In this article, Stanford GSE Associate Professor Jelena ObradoviÄ‡ shares tips for caregivers as distance learning continues. There is a great tip sheet in the article that I printed out to remind myself what my family needs to feel successful during this time.
