Comments from Principal Jones & Staff

Survey Results: Mr. Jones hosted a Community Meeting on Weds. 5/27 @ 8 PM to discuss the results from the recent District Parent Survey. If you did not receive an email from Mr. Jones with his notes from the meeting, please email him for a copy.

The meeting was to discuss with parents, options, or ideas for how Guadalupe will look in the 2020/2021 school year. The district has created a task force of one parent and one teacher from each school to look into details guidelines coming from the district, county and other key agencies. Mr. Jones has tasked the School Site Council (SSC) members (Parents and Staff all at Guadalupe) to help analyze the district's guidelines.

The SSC is inviting Guadalupe parents to help by joining a Task Force  to ensure the guidelines from the district meet all the needs of our students and ensure a safe campus. If you are interested in joining the Task Force, please email Brian Holloman-Kincaid . Click here for more information on SSC Task Force, and to check recent news for the Task Force.

Student Belongings: Mr. Jones briefly discussed the pickup of personal belongings and return of library books, at Guadalupe on 6/3 & 6/4. Social distancing will be practiced for parents walking up to pick belongings. Signs will be posted with instructions.

Library books, 5th grader Chrome books, and iPads/Chrome books belonging to student who will not be returning to Guadalupe in 20/21, will be collected by staff during the pickup.

He asked if parents have any concerns with the process, or need to make alternative arrangements; please contact him directly

Campus Access: Mr. Jones asked if parents need to come to the campus, please contact himself or the front office before you arrive. All guests must enter through the double door gate between the office and cafeteria and stop to be tested by the nursing staff. All guests must wear a mask before entering the campus.

Computer/iPad/Online Support & Issues: Please contact our Tech Guru Denise Goodhart if you are having problems with Chromebooks, iPads, Connectivity to the internet or any of the learning apps provided by the district.

Parent Community Update

Yearbook Update: Due to staffing restrictions, our yearbook printer has announced a significant delivery delay for this year's yearbooks. We have no official time frame when the books will be ready for shipment. All families who purchased a yearbook already have received an email update. A update will be emailed and posted on Facebook.

YEARBOOKS WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN YOUR STUDENTS PERSONAL BELONGING BAG AT PICK-UP.

Yearbook Signings: The yearbook team, along with Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Grewal, has come up with a yearbook signing solution for all grades. These solutions utilize the Seesaw (K-1) and Google Classroom (2-5) platforms and involve printing out pages to be inserted to pre-designed pages in the yearbook. Parent's who purchased a yearbook will have more details in the email update.

A-synchronous Learning & Synchronous Learning: A few parents approached this topic and questioned mirroring districts in the area. Mr. Jones made notes of all the comments and will be sharing this information with curriculum task force at the district level.

Virtual Summer Camp & Classes: The community group spoke briefly on this topic. Mr. Jones and Joyce Wong have gathered together a list of local virtual summer camps or classes currently available. This document is ever-changing with new guidelines coming down county officials. Parents can access the information here. We've included some of the information in the Parent Resource spreadsheet, linked below.

We also discussed alternative solutions for summer, like life skills and project ideas. All of these can be access through the Guad Parent Resources document available online. One new tab added to this Resource guide is game suggestions and Summer Camps & Classes.

PARENTGROUP.GHSC@GMAIL.COM: This is our new email address for parents to ask questions or inquire for more information. If you are unable to attend the next community meeting, please feel free to email us your questions, and the moderator will make sure they're answered
