Class/Grade Meetups: Several classes in multiple grades have started weekly meetups for the kids to interact. If you would like to help by hosting one or two of these online meetups. Please reach out to your Class Room Parents or feel free to contact for more details. These meetups are parent-run; there is parent supervision.
@ Home Curriculum: We had a few parents inquiring about what curriculum is available for Guadalupe students. Mr. Jones sent an email detailing @Home Schooling on 3/20. Please be sure to visit https://athome.unionsd.org for more detailed information.
If you are not receiving emails from the principal or district, please email Jeannie Hamchuk <hamchukj@unionsd.org>.
Google Hangout: A parent brought up a question that allows students the ability to access Google Hangout through Google Classroom. Currently, some classroom hangout chatrooms are turned off by the teacher. These chatrooms require constant supervision by the teacher. Alternative suggestions for student include texting, FaceTime, Zoom Meetups, or House Party, where parents can monitor conversations and posts.
Supporting Senior Local Facilities: Shared a local idea for students to create "positive messages" or get well cards for seniors at a local facility. The recommendation included parents should contact a local senior facility first to confirm they are open to receiving the cards.
Journaling for Students & Parents: Several parents shared their journaling methods and during @Home Schooling. One parent recommended an app called ONE DAY.
Exercise Indoors: Several parents advocated more activity indoor through exercise. From online Tae Kwan Do classes to using such services as Go Noodle (youtube) or Daily Burn.
House Party APP: This alternative to Zoom is popping up in parent recommendations. Similar to zoom but easier to use and geared towards smaller groupings like an online playdate.
Guad Parent Resources: Several new at home learning tools were brought up during the meeting. We will listing this information on the Guad Parent Resources spreadsheet. Please feel free to add to this ever growing list below.
